Rape is a huge issue that plagues the world today. It is the social environment that allows sexual violence to be normalized and justified, fueled by the persistent gender inequalities and attitudes about gender and sexuality. It is a worldwide issue, Rape truly is the most personal of all crimes.and is not specific to any one country. Rape also can impact anyone at any time. It is not specific to any one neighborhood, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, or financial status.
when you hear the unfortunate story of another girl being the victim of sexual assault or rape. women are naturally supposed to be seen as victims to male desire, of any sort. It is likewise as common for these crimes to go unreported, due to the victims feeling they will not be believed, or become subject to further shame and humiliation. Rapes continue to happen frequently, and yet many are not reported to the police due to fear of society & neighbours. Many people do not talk about sexual matters at all, so they are even less likely to discuss rape . If someone was raised in an environment where they did not talk about sexual things, they will be less likely to report a rape as an adult. It is difficult enough for the victim to get through the actual experience, and victims do not want to have to relive it several times with many different people.
Every day we have the opportunity to examine our behaviours and beliefs for biases that permit rape culture to continue. From the attitudes we have about gender identities to the policies we support in our communities, we can all take action to stand against rape cultural.
